2018 Here We Come! My Goals For The New Year!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Virtual cheers!!

If you read my 2017 wrap-up, you know the past year has been amazing! But, I'm excited to see what 2018 brings! I've got a lot of new books and series planned, a lot of new ideas I'd love to explore, and a lot of excitement about all the opportunities available to me :)

So, let's just dive right in with...

My Top Five Author Resolutions of 2018!

1) Publish Shatter and finish Midnight Ice with a bang!

Shatter goes on sale tomorrow!! Woohoo! This series has been SO MUCH FUN to write! I'll be sad to see it go and I will definitely miss these characters, but I'm not saying goodbye to them quite yet :) I could see a spin-off in the future, so I'm not ruling anything out!

What's also a little cool is that Shatter will be my fifteenth published full-length book! A little crazy to believe!

2) Finish The Raven & The Dove, my NaNoWriMo Project!

Wow, this book is becoming even more than I ever thought it could be! I'm about 60k words into the manuscript, and I think I might reach 90k before I'm done! The longest book ever for me! But the world and the characters just keep growing and spinning and strengthening in my mind, which is the most exciting sort of writing for me!

If you haven't heard about it yet, I'm calling it a Tristan & Isolde retelling set in an avian inspired world :) Not sure when it will go on sale, might put it on the back burner for a little while so I have the proper time to edit, so we'll see! In the meantime, you can add it on Goodreads to get all the big updates!

3) Finally write Chasing Midnight, the third book in Once Upon A Curse!

A lot of fans seem to want to strangle me for making them wait so long for this book, but 2018 should finally be the year! I got a little sidetracked by new projects I'd been super inspired by, but this book has been creeping into my brain over and over again, so I think the time is finally here to sit down and write it!

Chasing Midnight is also on Goodreads if you want to add it :) I'll be posting updates there as they come!

4) Write a new Kay Marie Romance!

It's been a while since I've published a new pen name book, and I'm itching to get back in the game :) Contemporary romances are so much fun to write! I have a few ideas percolating, like always, but I haven't decided which one I want to move forward with. So, more details to come soon! But for now, understand that 2018 will be a good year for anyone who liked my Kay Marie books!

5) Explore New Publishing Avenues!

I really think diversification is key to a lasting career as an author--trying to new genres, exploring new ideas, taking risks! And in 2018, I'd love to really embrace all the opportunities available. Whether it is looking into publishing something through a traditional house, submitting short stories to an anthology, collaborating with another author on a series, participating in more live events--anything and everything! I just want to make sure I don't close myself in, which is easy to do when you are self-published, and that I get out of my comfort zone a bit!

So there we go, my resolutions for 2018!

Should be another good year ahead :)

Is there anything you've been waiting for that wasn't on my list? Any ideas you have for me? I absolutely love getting your feedback!

And no resolution list is complete without my reader side getting a little input as well. So, let's take a look at the...

Top Five Books on my TBR for 2018!

1) Furyborn by Claire Legrand

I just got approved for this book on Netgalley and I can't wait to jump in! The story follows two heroines from two different centuries who could save the world or doom it, duh duh dummmm...

2) Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella

Sophie Kinsella is an auto-buy for me and she has a new book coming out in 2018! Yay!! I adore all of her books, so it doesn't even matter what it's about!

3) The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas

This book has been on the NYT Best Seller list ever since it first published, so obviously it's good, but more importantly, it's poignant for the world we live in. I just bought a copy this week and I can't wait to sit down and read it straight through, because I know this is one I won't be able to put down.

4) The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

A few of my friends fell head over heels in love with this book, and I've been aching to read it ever since I heard them gushing! The ebook went on sale this week, so I immediately snagged it!

5) A Girl Like That by Tanaz Bhathena

The cover first caught my eye, and the description completely ensnared me! Part murder-mystery, part social-commentary, I can't wait until this one goes on sale so I can grab a copy!

Bonuses...because those covers!

The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso,
The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan, &
The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke

What books are on your list??

HAPPY 2018!!

January 1, 2016

Hello, 2016!! Happy New Year!

So, it's only fitting to now take a look ahead at 2016 :) I'm pretty sure it's going to be a great year, and I already have a ton of super exciting projects to work on and some pretty amazing surprises for all of you!!

Without further ado...

My Top Five Author Resolutions for 2016!

1) Publish Withering Rose, the second book in the Once Upon A Curse series!! I am SO excited about this book! I've been outlining and planning, and I can't wait to start writing these amazing characters! Beauty & The Beast has always been one of my favorite Disney movies and I am beyond excited to write my own version of the story :) I'm hoping to publish this one in April! And it will come with a few little surprises I'll be revealing later on...

2) Publish Confessions of an Undercover Girlfriend!, the second book in the Confessions series!! Okay, I will be the first to admit, I sort of ended the first book in this series with a cliffhanger...sorry! But you'll see why when you get the second book! I have so many more laughs, awkward moments, and romantic interludes for Skye and Ollie, and I can't wait to share the next chapter of their story with you! For all of the fans of my new pen name who have been asking, I'm hoping to have this one out over the summer -- July/August!

3) Celebrate the FIVE year anniversary of Ignite :) WHAT?! I know! I couldn't believe it either, but yes, it has been FIVE whole years since Ignite first went on sale and my crazy journey as an author began! I have SO MANY surprises in store for all of the fans of this series and I CANNOT wait until the fall to start releasing some exciting news!! But until then...you'll just have to wait :) Te he he -- secrets, secrets are no fun, unless you are the author and can tease your fans with them!

4) Publish audio books! I've been meaning to do this for a long time, but since I have never been a huge fan of audio books I always forget that there are so many people out there who are! A few of my author friends have found huge success and a ton of new fans through audio books, so I'm determined to try them out this year, starting with my Midnight Fire series!

5) Author Signings and Live Events! This one has been on my to do list for a while, because, come on, it sounds like SO MUCH FUN!!! I would love to meet some of you amazing fans in person and to chat with you and sign books for you, and I've wanted to do this for years! This has been one of my resolutions for a while, but this year, I'm going to make it happen!

Okay, that's it, the top five of what I hope is to come for 2016!

Like I said, it is going to be a GREAT year!!

Lots more books, lots more amazing characters, lots more fun :)

But I'm not only an author, I'm also a reader and a fan of other authors, so I thought I would close this post with another top five...

The Top Five Books On My To-Read List for 2016!

1) Remembrance (Mediator #7) by Meg Cabot

Sue and Jesse are back AND getting married?!?!?!? OMFG!!!! That about explains my excitement level for this book :) If you've never read The Mediator series, GO DO IT NOW! One of my favorites!

2) The Bands of Mourning (Mistborn #6) by Brandon Sanderson

Mistborn is one of my favorite fantasy series EVER and I can't wait for the next installment to come out! They used to be considered adult fantasy I believe, but recently got rebranded with YA covers, so anyone who likes fantasy (adult or YA) will LOVE these books! Incredibly imaginative, fabulous world building, mind blowing OMG moments, and of course totally lovable characters!

3) Even If The Sky Falls by Mia Garcia

So excited for this one because the author is one of my close friends!!! I can't wait to read her debut, and to be honest, even if I didn't know her this book sounds freaking amazing!! New Orleans, Mardi Gras, Hurricanes -- bring on the romance and drama!

So, I read Throne of Glass before and I never got that into it, which really surprised me because it just sounds like everything Sarah J Maas writes should be something I love, so I'm giving her books a second chance! When they were on sale, I bought the entire Throne of Glass series and I also bought ACOTAR, and I'm diving in full force!! I'm pretty sure I'm going to love all of them and that my first read was a strange fluke!

5) Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

I don't know much about this book other than I've been seeing it everywhere and it looks amazing!! I'm excited to try out a new author and a brand new series!

And a few others on my Kindle that I'm excited to read :)

What are your top five books for 2016? Hopefully one or two of mine :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
