Withering Rose Cover Reveal!!

Today is the day...so excited!!

The Withering Rose cover reveal is here!

I hope you all love the cover :) I'm super excited about the new direction for the covers for this series, and I'm so happy with how this cover and the cover of Gathering Frost turned out!!

Without further ado...

YAY!

**A USA Today Recommended Series!**

What if Beauty was cursed, and the Beast was the only one who could save her? Don't miss WITHERING ROSE, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Beauty & The Beast. This is the second book in Once Upon A Curse, a series of interconnected stand-alone novels all set in the same fantasy universe.

"As the heat finally disappeared, I felt the bloom blossom in the very core of my soul, a rose just like my name--a ticking clock hidden behind a façade of beauty. From that moment on, my life would become a countdown, and all I could do was wait and watch as the petals of time slowly started to fall."

Omorose Bouchene has a secret--magic. There's only one problem. At the age of seven, an earthquake struck, catapulting her into a new world. A land made of skyscrapers and cell phones. Fast cars and fluorescent lights. A land where magic isn't supposed to exist and anyone who wields it is the enemy.

But after ten years of hiding, she's desperate to find a place where she can be free. Because all magic comes with a curse, and her curse is time--every ounce of power she uses strips days off of her life. The clock is winding down, and the only option left is to escape to the realm of the Beast. But the king of monsters isn't what he seems. And the more Omorose opens her heart, the more she comes to realize that the only person she may need to fear is herself.

And if you missed out on Gathering Frost, here are those details too :)

**A USA Today Must-Read Romance!**

Will the prince's kiss be enough to revive her frozen heart? Don't miss GATHERING FROST, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.

"I wish I could say I was the hero of the story. A resister. A rebel. Someone who lived to bring an end to the queen who stole my childhood--my mother, my life, my very world. But I'm not. I'm not the good guy. I'm the one who puts the good guys in their graves."

Jade was only a little girl when the earthquake struck. Before her eyes, half of New York City disappeared, replaced by a village that seemed torn out of a storybook. Horses and carriages. Cobblestone streets. A towering castle. And, above all, a queen with the magical ability to strip emotions away.

Ten years later and Jade has forgotten what it is to feel, to care...even to love. Working as a member of the queen's guard, she spends most of her time on the city wall staring at the crumbling skyscrapers of old New York. But everything changes when the queen's runaway son, Prince Asher, returns. Under his relentless taunts, her blood begins to boil. Under his piercing gaze, her heart begins to flutter. And the more her icy soul begins to thaw, the more Jade comes to question everything she's ever known--and, more importantly, whose side she's really on.

Gathering Frost Gets A Makeover!!

Super exciting news today! Gathering Frost got a facelift :)

A new cover AND it is no longer exclusive to Amazon!! Now, you can purchase Gathering Frost from Apple, Kobo, Smashwords, and Google Play!!!! (And B&N within the week!)

Okay...back track a little!

I've been working like crazy to get Withering Rose ready for all of you (eek!) and part of that work is doing things like designing the cover and writing the back copy and...well, finishing the book! But back to the cover! I was perusing some of my favorite stock photo websites and I found an image of a girl in this beautiful dress that I LOVED, but there was one problem--it didn't match the cover of Gathering Frost at all! So I pushed the image from my mind, but it kept creeping back in! So I took a second look at my cover for Gathering Frost and made a decision...

It was time for a makeover!

For some reason, I never seem to get the cover quite right the first time around for a first-in-series book! I changed the cover for Ignite, I changed the cover for The Shadow Soul, I changed the cover for The Golden Cage...and with Gathering Frost the trend continues!

But I think you will all LOVE the new cover! I know I do!!

Oh, and just so you know, March 8th will be the official cover reveal date for Withering Rose...so hopefully this gets you even more excited for that!

So, without further ado...

Tada!

Here's a side by side comp...so much better, right?!

Here are all the new purchase links if you missed them above :)

And in case you need a little reminder, here's what Gathering Frost is all about!!

Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! Yippie, Paperbacks!

My proof of the Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! paperback arrived in the mail!!

WOOHOO!!

I love getting my paperbacks--the book seems way more real now that I have a copy displayed nicely on my bookshelf :)

And I'm so happy that all of the colors look just as bright on the matte paper as they do on my computer screen! I'm just loving how the cover screams summer read--cheerful, fun, and definitely perfect for the beach!

As some of you might have noticed, I'm testing Confessions out as a Kindle Select title for the first three months of on-sale (and maybe more depending on how the test run goes). So if you don't read on a kindle, you might want to get one of these bad boys for yourself when they become available :) Or you can check out my No Kindle, No Problem info page for other options. I'm obviously a little biased, but I'm obsessed with my copy!

If you want to pre-order a kindle ebook, here's that link!

I'll share paperbacks links as soon as I have them! And don't forget, you can read the first two complete chapters of the book on Wattpad!

Now, without further ado, here's the full cover--front and back! So pretty...

And here's one more image from my selfie photo shoot in the park outside my apartment building! I was embracing my inner cover model and copying the pose...definitely got a few strange looks from people passing by :) Worth it!

Yay for spring!

Cover Convos #1: To Color Or Not To Color?

Happy Friday!!!

I've been thinking recently that too much of my blog is about, well, me--and I want to broaden the scope of my posts! Obviously, I'll still give you as many updates as I can on all of my projects, but I want to talk about more things, more often!

Hence, cover convos! This is the first new feature I'm bringing to the table. Every so often, I'll post about covers--ones I think are unique or cover trends I like or maybe even trends that I don't. Just anything that's on my mind that I want your opinion on!

Up first? To color or not to color... with Jennifer E. Smith's covers!

I have to say, I ADORE this cover! You know me... black and white with a punch of color is definitely my style. But what I really love is the type treatment! I think all writers are a tad obsessed with fonts (I know I am!), and I think the polished-handwriting look here is perfect. It's almost right out of a teenager's journal (especially with the doodles!), but just slightly more professional.

And most importantly to me--the cover is unique! I first spotted this book on a table in Barnes & Noble, and it completely caught my eye because it was SO different than all of the other surrounding covers. I was intrigued and needed to know more--cover win!

The one downside? I wish the heart stood out more. I think the overall balance is just slightly base-heavy with the "LOVE" standing out a little too much. I probably would have made the heart doodle thicker or filled it in with a few squiggles.

Which brings me to book two...

I'm not sure if one of these is from a galley, or from a foreign publisher, but I've seen both covers floating around and I much prefer the second! I think the added layer of color brings out the type even more, and makes the entire cover look more balanced and in sync.

But that's why this is a cover CONVO! What do you think? Am I talking crazy or do you think in this case more color was better?

Let me know and spread the news! I'll be introducing more feature posts soon!
