So...I might have had a little toooooo much fun celebrating on New Year's eve :)
But I always love putting together author resolutions for the new year and I figured better late than never! 2016 was a fantastic year (as you can see from my year end wrap up) and I hope 2017 is even better! Virtual cheers!
So, here you go...
My Top Five Authors Resolutions for 2017!
1) More live events!
I had my first ever book signing in 2016 and it was a BLAST!! I'm hoping to have more in 2017 so I can keep meeting my amazing fans and fellow authors! I already have my first event lined up for March--super exciting!! I'll be leading a workshop at the Unicorn Writer's Conference (more on this to come later!)
I know, I know--I say this every year...but this year I mean it! I've already hired a narrator who is turning Ignite into an audiobook as we speak! I'm hoping to have the first one on sale around March, and to publish the entire Midnight Fire series in audio by the end of the year!! WOOT WOOT!
3) Launch Midnight Ice, my new Midnight Fire spin-off series!
The first book, Frost, is just about ready to go :) A few more edits, and I'm done! That'll be going on sale January 26th and then I'm hoping to keep the ball rolling with a tight publication cycle! Keep an eye out for book two in April, eek!
4) Launch a new Kay Marie series!
I have a few ideas percolating for my next contemporary romance, I just have to figure out which book I want to write first! But, to be fair, there are way worse problems to have! I'm hoping to get something out sometime over the summer, just in time for beach reading :)
5) Collaborate more with other authors!
I tend to be more of an introvert, but I would love to break through this crutch and collaborate with my fellow authors more! I made a few steps this year by joining some Facebook groups, but I'd like to be more active in giving and getting advice, working with other authors on promotions, and maybe joining another box set or something! Writing can often be a very solitary career, so meeting some more people who understand this life would be a great resource for me!
And that makes five!
New year, new goals, lots of new books to work on :)
And because I'm just as much of a fan as an author, I thought I'd make some resolutions on the book front too! I so often get lost in work, but I want to take more time to read as much as I used to!
My Top Five Most Anticipated Reads of 2017!
1) All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
This book has been on my tbr for AGES and I am finally going to read it this year! I bought a copy a few months ago during a discount sale, so I have no excuses! Everyone tells me it is one of the best books ever, so I'm super excited to finally dive in!
2) Caraval by Stephanie Garber
My most anticipated debut and new release of 2017! The cover is everything, the description is ridiculously intriguing, and it's about sisters! Obviously, I must have it :)
3) Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Laini Taylor is one of my absolute favorite authors, so I will auto-buy anything she publishes!! Can't wait for this book to go on sale so I can devour it in one sitting!
4) My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella
I've never met a Sophie Kinsella book I didn't love :) She's the queen of chick lit and I bow down to her amazingness!
5) Air Awakens by Elise Kova
Another book that's been on my tbr for ages! Everyone I talk to loves this series and I've been aching for a high fantasy read lately, so I'm super excited to start this one!
And a few more just because :)
That's all folks! Happy 2017!!
